Today I:
Worked on notating a melody in A minor over a figured bassline. This is traditionally a Classical exercise, but I'm trying to apply it for inspiration and also to think about voice leading 4-part harmony in an instrumental context. I did 3 unrelated lines, each of which took between 20 and 25 minutes, because the note placement has to follow a long set of rules which was established in what we call the Common Practice Period.
