Today I: Worked on my term paper.

Today I: Worked on notating a melody in A minor over a figured bassline. This is traditionally a Classical exercise, but I'm trying to apply it for inspiration and also to think about voice leading 4-part harmony in an instrumental context. I did 3 unrelated lines, each of which took between 20 and 25 minutes, because the note placement has to follow a long set of rules which was established in what we call the Common Practice Period.

Today I: Finished up my submissions for SA&W Poetry Competition. One of these is a short collection, one is a single poem, and the third is a short story. Edited and Added to Something I Said  to make it eligible for the Short Short Story competition at Writer's Digest.

Today I: Started working with the chord progression from a song called Triste by Antonio Carlos Jobim, to start writing a contrafact, a song based on an already-existing chord progression. I have a rough melody sketched out.

Today I: Updated my Common app to remove some colleges from my list (Otterbein, The New School, Marymount Manhattan, etc.) and to include new ones from the showcase/fair I did over the break (UCO, TCU, Centenary, etc.) and then filled out the information for each of them. (35 min) Began work on my new Common App essay, because I decided to scrap the old one. (50 min)

Today I: Went over my paperwork for my audition tomorrow. This is my resume and personal statement that I'll present my judges at NTDA in Plano. Looked through my audition repertoire catalogue for my future auditions and narrowed down choices to a couple songs and monologues.

Today I: Worked on another chord progression; this time I'm trying to write a contrafact. (55 mins) Helped David with his ApplyTexas writing. (20 mins)
